Here's an example of a rhinoplasty that we did a few months ago. This is a two month post op photo. She had a very crooked nose. You'll notice on her front view that it tilts quite a bit to the right. And when we look at her base view, which is the view from below, you can really see the whole tip of the nose has shifted off to one side. So she had quite a severe septal deviation, both the cartilaginous and bony part of the septum. So the bony part of the septum was reduced and removed so that the bridge could be shifted. I used ultrasound for the bone work in her because I wanted to be very controlled about where the bone cuts were made so that the bones would shift over easily without risking fracturing them. So I used ultrasound not only to do the bone work to shift the bridge over, but her septum, which was so crooked to one side, needed to be brought back into the midline. So ultrasound's another way of creating a little space for that cartilage. It's really important in cases like this to get all of the internal anatomy lined up first, so then we can add those little finishing touches like tip rotation, tip refinement, and hump reduction to give her a nice overall look to her nose. So not just straighter, but also a little bit more refined and a little bit more in keeping with her other facial features.
