8 West Clinic — rhinoplasty consultation Vancouver
The Clinic

Built for this.

8 West Clinic was founded in 2006 by Dr. Thomas Buonassisi and Angie Buonassisi with a specific purpose: to build a clinic where facial surgery — and rhinoplasty in particular — could be done at the highest standard, with the infrastructure to match.

That means an accredited private surgical facility (not a shared hospital OR), a dedicated patient care team, and a full suite of recovery support services — all under one roof, across two Vancouver locations.

Patients who come to 8 West for rhinoplasty have access to the full clinic: medical aesthetics, private dermatology, health optimisation, and recovery support — without external referrals.

Purpose-built surgical facility

Patients have surgery at an accredited, private surgical suite. Rhinoplasty is never performed at a public hospital. The facility was designed specifically for cosmetic surgery — same team, same environment, every case.

Exclusive surgical focus

The clinic was built around a single surgical specialty: the face and neck. That focus shapes everything — how consultations are structured, how the team is trained, and how outcomes are tracked over time.

Continuity of care

From your first pre-assessment to your last follow-up, you work with the same care team. Your Patient Care Manager is your single point of contact — not a rotating intake coordinator.

Under one roof

Rhinoplasty patients have access to the full clinic: medical aesthetics, private dermatology, health optimisation, and recovery support services. No external referrals required.

Rhinoplasty patients at 8 West Clinic have access to all the services of both clinics.

Facial anatomy assessment — the basis of every rhinoplasty consultation at 8 West Clinic
Your Consultation

An honest picture of what's possible for your face.

Before any decision is made, Dr. Buonassisi will give you a clear-eyed assessment of your anatomy and what rhinoplasty can realistically achieve for you. This isn't a filter or a wishlist — it's the judgment of a surgeon who has performed over 2,500 procedures.

Facial anatomy assessment — every consultation begins with a structured evaluation of your nasal anatomy in relation to your full facial profile.

Computer imaging — a simulation built from your actual anatomy, reviewed with you in the room, so your expectations are grounded in what your face will genuinely support.

Honest candidacy review — Dr. Buonassisi will tell you clearly whether rhinoplasty is right for you, and what it can and cannot achieve for your specific anatomy.

Candidacy & Risks
Rhinoplasty is not right for everyone. Candidacy depends on your anatomy, health history, and the realistic limits of what surgery can achieve. As with any surgical procedure, there are risks and potential complications — these will be discussed in full at your consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Questions about 8 West.

Common questions about the clinic, the consultation, and what to expect from your rhinoplasty journey at 8 West.

About the Clinic

When was 8 West Clinic founded?

8 West Clinic was founded in 2006 by Dr. Thomas Buonassisi and Angie Buonassisi. It began as a focused facial surgery practice and has grown into a multi-disciplinary clinic with two locations in Metro Vancouver.

Where are your locations?

We have two locations: our main clinic at 1788 West Broadway in Vancouver, and our North Vancouver location at 221 West Esplanade. Both locations offer consultations and non-surgical services. Surgical procedures are performed at our accredited Vancouver facility.

Is 8 West Clinic a hospital?

No. 8 West is a private, purpose-built clinic — not a hospital. Our surgical procedures are performed in an accredited, dedicated surgical centre.

What services does 8 West Clinic offer beyond rhinoplasty?

8 West Clinic offers facial cosmetic surgery, medical aesthetics (injectables, lasers, skin treatments), private dermatology, health optimisation (hormone therapy, IV nutrition, longevity medicine), and cryopreservation and stem cell banking. Rhinoplasty patients have access to the full clinic, including recovery support services.

How many people work at 8 West Clinic?

The clinic has more than 15 medical professionals across both locations, including surgeons, registered nurses, medical aestheticians, patient care managers, and health optimisation specialists.

The Consultation

Do I need a referral to book a consultation?

No referral is required. We recommend completing the online pre-assessment first — it allows our team to prepare for your specific goals and ensures Dr. Buonassisi can review your case before your appointment.

How long is the wait for a consultation?

Wait times vary depending on demand. Completing the pre-assessment first allows our team to prioritise consultations. Current wait times are typically 4–8 weeks from the date of your pre-assessment submission.

Can I have a virtual consultation?

Initial consultations are conducted in-person at our Vancouver clinic. A proper examination of your nasal anatomy and facial proportions cannot be accurately performed remotely. Virtual follow-up appointments are available for out-of-town patients who have already had an in-person consultation.

What happens at the consultation?

Your consultation is a 60–90 minute in-person appointment. It includes standardised photography, a structured facial anatomy assessment, computer imaging, a review of your goals and candidacy, and a detailed discussion of the surgical plan and what rhinoplasty can realistically achieve for your specific anatomy.

What does computer imaging show?

Computer imaging is a simulation tool — not a guarantee of results. It allows Dr. Buonassisi to illustrate the direction of change he is aiming for, and helps ensure you and he are aligned on goals before any surgical plan is finalised.

Is the consultation fee applied toward surgery?

The consultation fee covers the full appointment, photography, computer imaging, a written surgical plan, and a detailed cost breakdown. The fee is not applied toward your surgical fee — it reflects the time and resources involved in a thorough evaluation.

What if I am not a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

Dr. Buonassisi will tell you honestly if rhinoplasty is not the right path for you. He will not recommend surgery unless he is confident it will genuinely improve your quality of life. Candidacy depends on your anatomy, health history, and the realistic limits of what surgery can achieve.

Can I bring someone with me to the consultation?

Yes. Many patients bring a partner, parent, or trusted friend. We recommend it — having a second person in the room often helps patients feel more comfortable asking questions and retaining information.

The Patient Care Team

Who is my Patient Care Manager?

Your Patient Care Manager (PCM) is your dedicated point of contact throughout your entire journey — from pre-assessment through to your final follow-up. They coordinate your appointments, answer questions between visits, and ensure nothing falls through the cracks. You will be assigned a PCM when you complete your pre-assessment.

Can I contact my Patient Care Manager between appointments?

Yes. Your PCM is available by phone and email during clinic hours. They are your primary contact for any question that arises between appointments — whether about preparation, recovery, or logistics.

What is the difference between a Patient Care Manager and a patient coordinator?

Most clinics have patient coordinators who handle scheduling. At 8 West, your PCM is a more senior role — they are involved in your clinical preparation, your recovery programme, and your follow-up care. They attend your consultation and are present throughout your surgical day.

Recovery Support

What recovery support does 8 West offer?

8 West Clinic has a dedicated in-clinic wellness programme available to patients during their recovery period. This includes IV therapy, red light therapy (photobiomodulation), cold room, oxygen room, PEMF therapy, and infrared sauna. Your Patient Care Manager will advise which services are appropriate for your recovery stage.

What is PEMF therapy?

PEMF stands for Pulsed Electromagnetic Field therapy. It is a non-invasive, relaxing modality that gently stimulates cellular activity. Sessions are quiet and comfortable. More information is available on our Health Optimisation pages.

Are the recovery services included in the surgical fee?

Recovery support services are available at the clinic and are not automatically included in the surgical fee. Your Patient Care Manager will discuss options with you as part of your post-operative care planning.

Out-of-Town Patients

Do you treat patients from outside Vancouver?

Yes — out-of-town patients are a significant part of our practice. We have patients from across Canada. Your Patient Care Manager is experienced in coordinating travel, remote pre-assessment, and virtual follow-up. Distance is not a barrier to receiving care at 8 West.

How many trips to Vancouver are required?

Most out-of-town patients require two trips: one for the in-person consultation, and one for surgery and the immediate post-operative period. Some patients combine the consultation and surgery into a single extended trip. Your PCM will help you plan the most practical itinerary for your situation.

Do you offer accommodation recommendations for out-of-town patients?

Yes. Our team can recommend accommodation options near the clinic that are suitable for recovery. We work with patients regularly on travel logistics and can advise on what to plan for.

Financing

Does 8 West Clinic offer patient financing?

Yes. We work with Beautifi and Medicard by iFinance to offer patient financing options. These are third-party financing providers — your PCM can provide details and direct you to the application process.
