8 West is led by Dr. Thomas Buonassisi, MD, FRCSC, Specialist in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery, with a practice limited to facial plastic surgeries. He works closely with our medical aesthetics, body and health optimization teams.
Your plan can combine cosmetic surgery, medical aesthetics, regenerative aesthetic treatments and health optimization, or use just one of them: surgical or non-surgical, aesthetic or functional. The answer is never limited by what one department offers.
Every service runs under physician oversight, and every treatment is delivered by a specialist in that area.

Meet the founders
8 West Clinic was founded by Dr. Thomas Buonassisi and Angie Buonassisi. Dr. Buonassisi has over 25 years of experience in facial plastic surgery in Vancouver.
Together they built a Canadian, family-founded practice where surgery, medical aesthetics and health optimization are planned together. Physician-led care since 2006, in Vancouver and North Vancouver.

Every treatment is delivered by a qualified provider who specializes in that area: Dr. Thomas Buonassisi for facial surgery, Dr. Geoff Masschelein for breast and body surgery, and our registered nurses, injectors, kinesiologists and medical aestheticians for non-surgical treatments, all under physician oversight.
Most treatments start with a consultation, so we can understand your goals, review your medical history and recommend the options that suit you. Skin consultations are complimentary. Surgical consultations with Dr. Buonassisi or Dr. Masschelein have a fee.

You’ll meet a member of our medical team who will review your goals, assess your concerns, explain your options and build a personalized plan with you, including what to expect before, during and after treatment.
Yes. Financing is available through partner companies for both surgical and non-surgical services. Our team can help you choose an option that fits your budget.
We ask for advance notice to cancel or reschedule, so the time can go to another patient. Our team can tell you the timelines and any fees for your appointment.
Every treatment at 8 West follows medical protocols under physician oversight, and your plan takes your health history into account. Your provider explains the risks and recovery of any treatment at your consultation.
Yes. Every surgical consultation, with Dr. Buonassisi or Dr. Masschelein, can be done virtually. For other treatments, ask our team whether a virtual consultation suits what you’re interested in.
Wait times depend on the treatment, the provider and the time of year. Many non-surgical appointments can be booked quickly, while surgical consultations may take longer. Our team will give you current availability when you call.
Yes. Our before-and-after galleries show real 8 West patients by area: rhinoplasty, face and neck, eyes and brows, breast and body, and skin and injectables. Results vary.
