Meet the 8 West Team

We’re proud to be the home of facial rejuvenation professionals who are at the top of their field, and that includes our highly qualified team who treat injectables as both a science and a finely-tuned art form. Our medical aesthetic team pride themselves on being the best, as they continue to up-skill, and even train others at the national level for many of our brand partners.

Equally as important as their skills and experience, our team also develops long-term relationships with their patients, assessing their specific anatomy and the changes that happen over time. This allows us to tailor your treatment plan to best achieve your individual facial aesthetic goals.

Our medical aestheticians, registered nurses, and injectables doctors offer a comprehensive and complimentary consultation to discuss your desired results, and provide quotes on your treatment plan. You can also book time for optional treatment after your consultation, in case you just can’t wait for the results to start.

Juvéderm:

Brought to market by globally trusted aesthetics innovator Allergan, Juvéderm is the world’s leading brand of hyaluronic acid-based dermal fillers. Products in this range of fillers are indicated for areas all across the face, with well-known product names including the likes of Juvéderm Volux or Juvéderm Voluma. As a naturally-occurring substance in the body, hyaluronic acid dissolves naturally through the normal metabolic process, or as a last resort can be dissolved using injections of the enzyme hyaluronidase. Can last 6-24 months, depending on product and treatment area.

Restylane:

Introduced by renowned innovator in aesthetics, Galderma, Restylane is another hyaluronic acid-based range of fillers that is well-trusted by doctors around the world. Like Juvéderm, the Restylane portfolio of filler products are indicated for areas all across the face with popular product names like Restylane Kysse. The unique Restylane Skinboosters product offers a fresh approach to skin rejuvenation, utilizing microdroplets of hyaluronic acid to provide long-term deep hydration. Some products available with lidocaine. Can last 6-12 months, depending on product and treatment area.

Stylage:

As a next-generation brand of dermal fillers under Vivacy Laboratories, Stylage fillers bring advanced technology to patients as a range of products that use the power of monophasic cross-linked hyaluronic acid boosted with antioxidants in its patented IPN-Like Technology for improved flexibility, longevity, and comfortability. Stylage filler is well-loved for its focus on long-lasting natural results. It is also popular for its ability to decrease some of the normal irritation, redness, and swelling that may come with injecting delicate skin by way of its antioxidant-boosted design. Some products available with lidocaine. Can last 6-18 months, depending on product and treatment area.

Belotero:

At 8 West Clinic, we carry Belotero Balance from the range of hyaluronic acid fillers brought to market by global innovators Merz Aesthetics. This advanced filler technology is uniquely cross-linked to create a product that can integrate more cohesively with tissues, and can be used for more superficial areas like the tear troughs or for forehead lines. Can last 12 months, depending on product and treatment area.

Radiesse:

A revolutionary brand of filler also from Merz Aesthetics, Radiesse is the first and only filler in Canada formulated with calcium hydroxylapatite—an advancement that gives the immediate contouring and lifting effects of hyaluronic acid-based fillers, but also a more long-term collagen and elastin stimulation effect. Like hyaluronic acid, the CaHA microspheres in Radiesse filler dissolve naturally through the normal metabolic process. Can last 12+ months, depending on product and treatment area.

Sculptra:

First approved for aesthetic use nearly two decades ago, Sculptra is another Galderma brand that uses the power of poly-L-lactic acid. It works by stimulating the body’s natural collagen production processes to restore volume, in contrast to other fillers that instantly fill physical space under the skin. Results are seen within 3 weeks of final treatment, gradually building over time. Can last 2+ years, depending on product and treatment area.

Which Filler Brand is Right For Me?

Not all dermal fillers are the same. When it comes to composition, some dermal filler products vary in factors like particle size and firmness—with different indications from facial contouring to skin hydration. Our experienced injectors are artists who expertly use specific densities of filler from our array of filler brands, and sometimes combine them, to create the results you want.

To learn more about what a dermal filler treatment tailored to you might look like, 8 West Cosmetic Surgery & Skin Clinic offers complimentary consultations with all of our medical aesthetics treatment providers. During this consultation is when you can discuss your concerns, your aesthetic goals, and pricing. By the end of your appointment, you will have a custom treatment plan designed just for you, and you may even book additional time for optional treatment if you decide you would like this the same day.

If you have any questions, or would like to schedule a consultation or appointment, please call the clinic on (604) 733-1669 or complete the online form below to receive a call back from one of our friendly patient care managers.

Dermal Fillers FAQ

How long do dermal fillers last?

Dermal fillers can last from approximately 6 months up to 2 or more years, but the longevity of a dermal filler treatment really depends on a number of factors. The type and amount of product used, the area treated, the injector’s skill, and how each individual patient metabolizes the product can all play into the length of time a dermal filler treatment will last.

Is dermal filler painful?

Our dermal filler treatments are performed with patient comfort at the forefront, and our experienced injectors minimize pain using a topical anesthetic applied to the area, along with a variety of other techniques like the use of icing or vibration anesthesia. A number of dermal filler products also include the local anesthetic lidocaine for further numbing at the site of injection.

What age is best for fillers?

When it comes to a best “age” for fillers, it’s difficult to give a single answer because dermal filler treatments when performed by a skilled injector are so customizable to achieve individualized results. Whether a person is a younger patient looking to enhance features, or an older patient looking for rejuvenation, dermal fillers administered with an artful eye can be used any which way.

A more interesting question might be something more like “What age is best for facelift surgery?”, which some may also consider when pondering whether dermal fillers can still treat the signs of aging they’re seeing. The rule of thumb for this is often that if you see enough skin laxity that it can be excised and repositioned on the face, you are probably a candidate for surgery. Do fillers age you faster? Does filler sag your face?

With an experienced injector who takes a less-is-more approach, dermal fillers can actually be used to age you slower. This means a gradual process of taking baby steps to treat, reassess, and re-treat over time as your face ages—while trusting that your injector will not lose sight of your natural facial anatomy. This also means taking a treatment approach of simply “correcting negatives back to neutrals”, and never overfilling to the point where your face will appear visually sagged in comparison if you were to dissolve or ease off of dermal fillers.

Additionally, some dermal filler products like Radiesse and Sculptra will work to stimulate the body’s natural collagen production processes, helping to recover age-related loss of volume in the skin over time.
