These early days of spring might make it seem like summer is far off, but warmer weather will be here before we know it. While we're waiting for beach days to arrive, this is the perfect time to focus on your skin - head to toe - so you're ready to show off your glow when those hot temps hit.

Many people think that laser skin treatments are just for the face, but just about any part of the body can benefit from body laser sessions, especially as we transition from dry-skin in the winter months and want to get that coveted, refreshed, summery radiance. Post-laser skin is sensitive to the sun for a few weeks, so spring is the last chance to book your treatments before the sunshine comes out in full blast. After a laser treatment, your skin looks naturally fresh, hydrated, and toned-ready to show off on a patio or laying poolside.

There's an overwhelming variety of laser treatments out there, so how do you know which is right for you? As Vancouver's premier medical aesthetic clinic, we're specialists in an ethical consulting approach to beauty and laser skin therapies, and these are our favourite types to include in a customized treatment plan that will have you adoring the skin you're in, just in time for summer.

1 - HALO™

We love Hybrid Fractional Laser (HALO™) treatments for treating some of our most common concerns, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin discolouration
  • Scars
  • Stretch marks
  • Skin laxity
  • Sun damage

HALO™ uses a revolutionary technology that targets these areas of concern on many parts of the body, including the neck, chest, arms, legs, hands, and hips. It works by combining ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to treat the skin, from the surface all the way down to its deeper layers. HALO™ laser treatments remove the dull outer layer of skin while stimulating collagen and elastin production below the surface.

You can expect to see results after just 1 session, although we may recommend a second treatment 6-8 weeks later for the best results, depending on your treatment plan that will be customized to your skin's needs. You'll see optimal results about 2-3 months after your treatment(s)- making early spring the perfect time to get the plump, toned, and firmer skin that has a beautiful, even appearance that you'll want to show off all summer long as you feel like your best self.

2 - BBL Photofacial & Forever Young

Ok, Broadband Light (BBL) technically doesn't involve a laser device, but we had to include it in our summer skin prep treatments because of how important post-treatment sun safety is, just the same as with laser treatments. You'll love BBL if you have redness, sun damage or brown spots from sun exposure from hiking, cycling, or however you've been enjoying the great outdoors. It does wonders in restoring our skin's natural health and clarity, transforming our dull winter skin and giving it back its goddess-worthy glow.

BBL uses a breakthrough technology using the power of broadband light to gently heat the upper layers of your skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted area will stimulate your skin cells to generate new collagen. This process will restore your skin to its natural beauty, blending its natural tones, making it look more evenly coloured, smoother, youthful, and more radiant than ever.

BBL treats a wide range of your areas of concern, like:

  • Sun damage (brown spots)
  • Redness
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Age spots (liver spots)
  • Wrinkles
  • Dull skin

BBL treatments usually take 3-6 sessions (depending on skin type), spread out over 3-4 week intervals. Your body laser plan will be carefully customized by our extensively trained treatment providers based on your skin tone and type and the optimal results that meet your unique needs.

Try BBL on your arms, legs, back, hands, and chest for vibrant, illuminated summer skin that's begging to be shown off in your favourite tanks and strappy dresses.

3 - ProFractional Laser™

ProFractional™ laser treatments are the gold standard in treatment in targeting body acne scars, like those pesky ones on the back, shoulders, chest, or the butt. ProFractional™ lasers work by stimulating the body's wound healing and collagen process with erbium: YAG laser resurfacing. This type of smart laser works deep down in the skin and safely ablates (vaporizes) tiny micro-channels in the skin in precise fractions in order to retain stem cells and melanocytes.

What does this do for your scar healing? ProFractional™ laser treatments result in plump, refreshed skin that's firmer, tighter, smoother, and brighter. Another perk: these treatments are quick, and highly efficient.

ProFractional™ laser treatments are typically performed over 3 sessions, approximately 6-8 weeks apart, so the late winter/early spring months are a great time to get started for glowing, dewy, youthful summer skin.

Treatment Yourself!

Body laser treatments are an ideal choice for getting the bright, firm, tight, smooth, and even-toned skin that you want for summer's warm weather and swimsuit season. Natural, nourished skin is the perfect summer accessory, giving you the confidence to show your glow off on the beach or anywhere the hot days take you. Many patients choose to combine these treatments, which our medical aestheticians will recommend based on your individual needs and the type of results that you want to see in the areas you choose to target.
