Lower Eyelid Aging: The Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty

Are you considering a lower eyelid lift? Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be used to treat the common signs of aging in the lower eyelid. These aging cues around the eyes occur as part of the natural aging process, as a part of our genetics, and as a result of heightened sun exposure and smoking.

Common signs of aging in lower eyelids that may be corrected with a lower eyelid blepharoplasty surgery include:

  • Skin laxity
  • Puffy bags under the eyes
  • Pronounced nasojugal groove/tear trough
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Skin discolouration

Lower eyelid blepharoplasty can be used to treat the sagging, bulging skin around the eyes, as well as the nasojugal grooves which are also called the tear troughs, that add to a tired expression and make us appear more aged.

If you are most interested in treating discolouration and fine lines around your eyes, these are best treated with a skin resurfacing treatment like a BBL or medical grade peel and not a blepharoplasty.
