What is Surgical Laser Skin Resurfacing? Here's How it Can Dramatically Change Your Skin!

Considered the safest and most effective skin resurfacing treatment available, the Countour TRL is an Erbium Yag laser that removes lines, wrinkles and sun damage.

Not all cosmetic surgeries require a scalpel and the use of general anesthetic; if you are looking to address certain skin concerns, such as acne, sun damage, or mild to deep wrinkles, you may be a candidate for Surgical Laser Resurfacing at 8 West Cosmetic Surgery. Here, we discuss what this magic-working laser treatment does and how it can benefit your skin, and your life.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Providing more dramatic improvements with a longer downtime than other laser skin resurfacing treatments you may have heard of, Sciton® Contour TRL™ is performed at our clinic by facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Thomas Buonassisi. This powerful machine is an ablative treatment that very precisely removes the outermost layer of your skin to reveal the beautiful, damage-freeskin underneath. Contour TRL alsostimulatesthe growth of collagen underneath the skin, which results infirmer and tighter skin with more resilience and a youthful glow.[caption id="attachment_8277" align="aligncenter" width="584"]

How to Know if You are a Contour TRL Candidate?

Contour TRL is one of our most powerful skin resurfacing treatments that leaves our patients wowed at the results, allowing you to choose certain areas or opt for whole face resurfacing. You maybe a candidate for Contour TRL if you are experiencing or are concerned with some of the following common symptoms:

  • Concern with areas around your lower eyelids or mouth
  • Experiencing deep wrinkling or skin laxity
  • Mild to deep wrinkles
  • Scarring from acne, trauma or surgery
  • Actinic keratoses
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Poor skin tone or texture

Less Invasive Laser Skin Resurfacing Options

If you like the idea of getting laser skin resurfacing to address sun damage, wrinkles, and acne scarring, but don't have the availability to have the downtime needed with Contour TRL, or simply wish to have a less invasive treatment, then you may wish to consider some other options with little to no downtime.

  • HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser: The next step down from Contour TRL is our less invasive, yet arguably powerful and effective laser skin resurfacing treatment called HALO. This treatment offers two lasers in one treatment, resurfacing the outermost layer while producing collagen in the lower layers. With 3-5 days of downtime, Halo is a wonderful alternative to Contour TRL with a quicker recovery.
  • BBL Broad Band Light Photo Facial: With zero downtime, BBL is another option for laser skin resurfacing that also addresses skin pigmentation from the sun and wrinkles. Sure to enhance your natural glow as it boosts your collagen, this is a quick, 15 minute treatment that allows you to get back to your regular activities immediately, though it doesn't address skin concerns like acne scarring.
  • SkinTyte: If skin laxity is your main concern, you may be a candidate for SkinTyte, a laser treatment that initiates the natural healing process of the skin, resulting in tighter, firmer skin. Delivered with topical pulses without the need for topical anesthetic, SkinTyte is a quick and comfortable option.
