BBL, IPL on Steroids: The Proven Anti-Aging Power of This Light Based Treatment

''You would have to be crazy not to make Forever Young BBL treatments a part of your skin anti aging plan.''

That was the advice recently imparted upon me by Suzanne, one of our skincare experts here at the Fioré© Skin Clinic. Citing a substantial body of evidence to back up her claim, including a recent study undertaken by Stanford University, I for one didn't need any convincing. The Stanford study our skin care specialist was referring to followed a group of people treated by the Forever Young BBL 2 to 4 times a year, over a span of 5 to 11 years. Post-treatment, 491 evaluators were asked to estimate the age of each participant. The evaluators judged participants to be 45, when in fact 45 was their average age at the time the study began ten years earlier.

In other words, although participants had aged approximately ten years over the course of the study, they still looked to be the same age they were when it began. Even more surprising, researchers found that participants not only appeared younger; their actual genes were transformed to resemble those of a much younger person. On a fundamental level, the Forever Young BBL restored the genes of those with photoaged and naturally aged skin.

HOW DOES FOREVER YOUNG BBL WORK?

At the Fioré© Skin Clinic we offer a number of different laser treatments, including the Forever Young® BBL. An acronym for Broad Band Light, BBL is also known as IPL, or, Intense Pulsed Light. A non-surgical laser technology, the light is delivered by the BBL machine via a small handheld device. This light then gently heats the upper layers of the epidermis producing a twofold result. Collagen and elastin production is stimulated in the targeted areas, which improves elasticity, tone, and texture; while the top layers of skin are removed by the concentrated beams of light, eliminating redness, hyperpigmentation, freckles, vascular lesions (small blood vessels, cherry angiomas, rosacea), broken capillaries, acne, and brown spots from sun overexposure. While the Forever Young BBL may facilitate genetic changes on the inside, we experience them on the outside as increased elasticity, more uniformly deposited collagen, and a significant improvement in wrinkles, pigmentation and vascular lesions of all types.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM A FOREVER YOUNG BBL TREATMENT

Non-surgical and non-invasive, there is no downtime involved in a Forever Young BBL treatment. Although any area of the body can be treated, we usually perform treatments on those parts most vulnerable to sun overexposure. These are typically the face, neck, back of hands, chest and shoulders. Depending on what your desired results are, Dr. Buonassisi will recommend a course of treatments, which could be anywhere from one single treatment to a series of several over the course of a few months. The treatments are performed by Dr. Buonassisi, as well as our highly skilled team of laser specialists. Some patients who come to see us for the first time are very anxious about having a laser treatment. Their worries not only include what they will look like afterwards, but the possibility of side effects. As with any procedure at the Fioré© Skin Clinic, before we even embark on a treatment program you will receive a thorough consultation that takes your skin type and medical history into account.

''YOU'D HAVE TO BE CRAZY NOT TO HAVE A FOREVER YOUNG TREATMENT.''

If there is one single treatment that I recommend for those interested in preserving their youthful complexion, or addressing issues related to aging of the skin, this is it. The Forever Young BBL is non-invasive and non-surgical, requires no recuperation period afterwards, and is cost-effective. After the Stanford study reported that their findings may lead to new insights into the human skin aging process it has become clear that the Forever Young BBL is changing the way we look at, approach, understand and treat aging skin. If you are interested in learning more about the Forever Young BBL, or you would like to come in for a complimentary consultation we would be happy to speak with you.
