EMFACE is an excellent option for those who are starting to see the signs of aging, such as volume loss, wrinkles, and fine lines, but may not necessarily be a candidate for more invasive procedures such as a facelift. It can also benefit individuals who have lost weight or experienced significant changes in their facial shape and want to restore a more youthful, lifted appearance.

For younger patients who may be looking more towards prejuvenation or maintenance, EMFACE will treat deep facial skin layers and selected muscles so it can be used as a preventive procedure instead of just treating visible facial wrinkles. EMFACE applicators are intended to be applied over the forehead and the cheeks, but the effects of the treatment are visible in overall facial appearance.

EMFACE can nicely complement injectable treatments like dermal fillers or wrinkle relaxers, but it could also stand alone to achieve like effects without having to undergo injections—a plus for patients who may not be comfortable with needles.

You can think of EMFACE as a high-tech facial workout machine that safely uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic stimulation (HIFES) in conjunction with radiofrequency (RF) energy in a controlled manner to stimulate facial skin, muscles, and connective tissue. EMFACE is the first device on the market utilizing patented, hands-free, applicators to simultaneously emit both Synchronized RF and HIFES energies in a single treatment.

HIFES™ TECHNOLOGY: HIFES uses a powerful but harmless form of electromagnetic stimulation to contract the muscles in a targeted area. These magnetic fields create electrical currents, which are passed to the muscles in the face. The high intensity focused electromagnetic stimulation (HIFES) technology restores and elevates support of facial tissues by selectively contracting muscles and increasing density and quality of muscle structure.

RF TECHNOLOGY: At the same time, the EMFACE device also emits Synchronized Radiofrequency energy, which remodels and smooths the skin by heating the dermis and increasing the levels of collagen and elastin fibers deep in the skin.

EMFACE treatments are performed as an in-office procedure by your treatment provider. It begins with your treatment provider cleansing your face and ensuring the targeted areas are prepped for the most efficient treatment.

The node-like EMFACE applicators attached to the machine are then comfortably taped on the surface of your skin at the precise treatment areas of the forehead and cheeks, in accordance with your facial anatomy. Once your medical aesthetician customizes the machine to your required settings and activates the treatment, the applicators will emit a series of small electrical impulses and radiofrequency energy to the underlying facial muscles and tissues, causing them to contract and relax at varying intensities. This process helps to tone and lift the facial muscles while also stimulating collagen production for improved skin texture. From here, the process is automated and will continue for a duration of 20 minutes.

After the session, your provider will remove the applicators and apply a medical-grade moisturizer or serum to soothe and hydrate your skin, completing the treatment.

During the treatment session, you will lie down in a private treatment room while the EMFACE applicators are placed on the targeted areas of your face. You’ll feel the device emit high-intensity electromagnetic waves that cause involuntary muscle contractions, which can feel like an intense facial workout. You may also feel a warming sensation, similar to the feeling of a hot stone massage, as the device emits radiofrequency energy in the deep layers of your skin.

There is no pre-preparation required for this procedure, but your medical aesthetician will have asked you to come to your treatment making sure you are well-hydrated. The more hydrated your skin and muscle tissues are, the less resistance they will have towards the radiofrequency energy being used with EMFACE. This allows the energy to travel more efficiently in order to selectively heat in your skin’s dermis layer. Ultimately, this means a more effective but also a more comfortable treatment.

Each treatment session typically lasts a quick 20 minutes, and you will be able to resume your regular activities immediately after the session.

Results can vary depending on the individual, but you will begin to feel tangible results immediately after the treatments. Your skin will look firmer and more youthful, and you may notice a reduction in the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Optimal results are typically seen about 3 months after completing your EMFACE treatment plan, which for most will consist of 4 sessions spaced about 1 week apart. You can expect to see further improvement over several more weeks as your skin continues to produce collagen.

On average, patients will find their EMFACE results lasting between 6 months to 1 year. You can come in for maintenance sessions anytime within the 6 months to 1 year.
