Facelift 101: Common Age-Related Facial Changes

Facelifts are the common procedure involved in correcting age-related facial changes. In this short video, Dr. Buonassisi discusses the typical facial changes seen due to age in facelift patients.

These changes include naso labial folds and marionette lines, as well as smile lines, frown lines, and jowl formation along the jaw line. The angle between the neck and the chin also become more obtuse, and fat deposits can occur beneath the chin.

Genetic features contribute to facial aging, namely a recessive skin which shortens the horizontal portion of the neck, making it look more lax.

Watch the video to see all of the age-related changes to the face, and possible indicators of a facelift candidacy.
