Infection and bleeding can occur as of any surgical procedure. If significant bleeding occurs in the lower lid, it can put pressure on the eye; so this is an urgent situation. This complication is extremely rare.Recovery from transconjunctival blepharoplasty is relatively quick. Most people take a week off of work or social engagements because of mild bruising. It is not generally painful and most people are able to return to normal day to day activities with the exception of strenuous activities, pretty much right away.This is an example of a patient who underwent transconjunctival blepharoplasty. You'll see her before photos; the photo in the center is one week after surgery, she really looks quite good; the last photo is a month after surgery, and you can see that there's no further residual swelling. Even at one week, I think it would be hard for us to tell she has had surgery.
