What Dr. Masschelein offers
Breast surgery, tummy tuck and liposuction, on their own or together. Every plan starts from your anatomy and your goals. At your consultation, Dr. Masschelein explains what's realistic for you and what recovery will look like.
Breast surgery
Typical recoveryMost daily activities in 1–2 weeks after augmentation; 2–3 weeks after a lift or reduction.
Tummy tuck
Removes excess abdominal skin and fat and tightens the abdominal muscles, including muscle separation (diastasis recti) after pregnancy.
Dr. Masschelein performs full, mini and extended tummy tucks, chosen for your anatomy, and often combines a tummy tuck with liposuction to refine the contour.
Many patients plan it once their weight is stable and they've finished having children.
Typical recovery3–4 weeks.
Liposuction
Removes stubborn fat from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms and back. It's a contouring tool for people at or near their goal weight, not a way to lose weight.
Dr. Masschelein uses the tumescent technique, and often combines liposuction with a tummy tuck or breast surgery.
Typical recovery1–2 weeks, depending on the areas treated.
Together
Breast surgery (augmentation, lift or reduction) and a tummy tuck, with liposuction if needed, in one surgical session.
Dr. Masschelein plans the combination around your goals and anatomy. Combining them means one recovery instead of two.
In the form, choose “Mommy Makeover”.
Typical recovery3–4 weeks.
Recovery times are typical ranges; yours depends on your plan. Results vary.

Your surgeon
Dr. Geoff Masschelein is 8 West Clinic's plastic surgeon, certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. His focus is breast and body surgery.
He builds each plan around what your anatomy can realistically support, so the result looks natural on you. Your consultation is where most of that work happens: you leave knowing what's possible, what's realistic for you and what recovery will look like.
“I put the sizers in and I'm able to then evaluate in the room whether or not I make some modifications to the pocket.”

The 8 West approach
Body surgery, non-surgical body shaping, regenerative aesthetic treatments and recovery support are all under one roof at 8 West. So your plan can include what suits you, before and after surgery.
Liposuction
Stubborn fat removed from areas such as the abdomen, flanks, thighs, arms and back, often alongside a tummy tuck or breast surgery.
Without surgery
Builds muscle and reduces fat in one non-invasive treatment. 30-minute sessions, no downtime, with our medical aestheticians.
Regenerative
Regenerative aesthetic treatments. Nano fat is a small amount of your own fat, collected by a physician and refined through a fine filter, for areas such as the décolletage. PRP (platelet-rich plasma) is made from a small sample of your own blood, spun to concentrate the platelets. Exosomes are tiny vesicles used as an add-on to some laser treatments. The guide explains each one.
Recovery
The lymphatic drainage suit, the red light bed and IV therapy. Your care team suggests what suits each stage.
Six kinds of care, joined into one plan around you. Every service runs under physician oversight.

The lift techniques, what happens to nipple size, and what a reduction can address.
Full, mini or extended, what happens to your belly button, body contouring with liposuction, and combining procedures for one recovery instead of two.

It depends mostly on where the nipple sits today. As Dr. Masschelein explains, if you mainly want more volume and the nipple is still fairly high, augmentation alone is often enough. If the breast and nipple have descended more, a lift repositions them, sometimes with implants for volume. He assesses this at your consultation.
Typical ranges for most daily activities: breast augmentation, 1–2 weeks; liposuction, 1–2 weeks depending on the areas treated; breast lift or reduction, 2–3 weeks; a tummy tuck, or combined procedures, 3–4 weeks. Recovery support (lymphatic drainage, the red light bed and IV therapy) is available at 8 West. Your own timeline depends on your plan. Results vary.
Dr. Masschelein's answer: many women who would naturally be able to breastfeed should still be able to, but any surgery on the breast can affect it, and it's hard to predict exactly. Larger implants can also reduce milk supply. It's worth raising at your consultation if you're planning a family.
Yes. Dr. Masschelein often combines liposuction with other body procedures, such as a tummy tuck or breast surgery, in one surgical session. Liposuction removes fat; loose skin and separated muscles on the abdomen are what a tummy tuck addresses.
For some goals, yes. Emsculpt NEO builds muscle and reduces fat without surgery, in 30-minute sessions with no downtime, with our medical aestheticians. Because 8 West offers surgical and non-surgical care, your patient care manager can tell you which options fit your goals.
When your weight is stable at a level you're comfortable maintaining. Dr. Masschelein explains that losing or gaining a lot of weight after surgery can change how the skin sits and the long-term result. Many patients also wait until they've finished having children.
All procedures at 8 West Clinic are performed on a private-pay basis. Your patient care manager can talk you through typical costs on your first call, which is complimentary. Your exact cost depends on your plan and is confirmed after your consultation with Dr. Masschelein.
