Meet Upper Eyelid Surgery Patient Gillian!
The team at 8 West Clinic is particularly smitten with this lovely patient Gillian, who was interested in sharing her Vancouver upper blepharoplasty experience via video and social medial. Her surgery was performed last week by Facial Plastic Surgeon Dr. Thomas Buonassisi and we are excited to see her tomorrow for her 1 week post operative appointment. She will be having her sutures removed and we will get a chance to see how she looks in terms of bruising and swelling.
As you will see in the video, there are a few steps to the procedure. First, Dr. Buonassisi carefully marks the area with a surgical pen. He carefully designs the incisions so that he removes just the right amount and not too much skin. It is better to error on the side of caution and remove slightly not enough than too much. He carefully measures each eyelid with special calipers to determine how many millimeters of skin to remove along the incision eye.
Each eyelid is taken into consideration separately, as everyone has asymmetric eyelids before surgery. While every effort is made to create eyelids that look very similar post surgery, patients are consulted properly to so that they expert a small degree of asymmetry.
Incisions are then carefully made, and the extra skin is surgically removed. If unwanted fat is present, this is removed as well. Incisions are carefully closed with sutures and then the patient rests before heading home.
We will be checking in on Gillian tomorrow when she visits us for her 1 week post operative appointment. We expect her to be swollen and have some bruising which should dissipate in the next couple of days. We will be sure to share some phots and video of her so you can see what she looks like tomorrow!
